GRP-MNLF peace pact collapses

November 1, 2009- At about 4:00 A.M.  this morning, the Philippine Marines approximately  numbering 2 thousand, backed up by another 3 thousand civilian volunteers (CVO), attacked the lair of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) under Commander Ustaj Habir Malik at barangay Baubo, Kalinggalan, Luuk, all in the province of Sulu .

As the offshoot of the attack, Ustaj Malik, a top brass military officer of the MNLF announced that the 1996 GRP-MNLF peace agreement had already collapsed.

Malik is accusing the Philippine Marines led by Mohammad Dolorfino for provoking the firefight. nerve

An MNLF commander identified as Hamsa Moro was killed in the encounter while the government forces suffered 3 casualties and several others wounded.

Meanwhile, a fish vendor identified as Sarif Malah Hajiji was arrested by the Philippine Marines for unknown reasons and while he was in custody, he was man-handled and almost beaten to death by the marines. He was released later after a negotiation made by his sisters and he is now confined in his parents' house at Suh Panamao, sulu for first aid medication.
